Emergency Eye Care

Emergency eye care is necessary for sudden vision changes or eye injuries that could lead to permanent damage. It involves seeking immediate medical attention for conditions like trauma, foreign objects, chemical exposure, or sudden vision loss. Prompt treatment can prevent significant vision impairment or even blindness. If you experience any of the above symptoms suddenly, it's important to seek immediate care.

Examples of eye emergencies:

  • Trauma: A blow to the eye, or any injury that could cause damage to the eye's structure.

  • Foreign objects: Anything entering the eye, including debris, contact lenses, or sharp objects.

  • Chemical exposure: Exposure to chemicals that can cause burns or irritation.

  • Sudden vision loss: Any sudden change in vision, such as complete or partial loss of vision.

  • Eye pain: Severe or sudden eye pain that doesn't subside.

  • Double vision: Seeing two images of a single object.

  • Eye bleeding: Blood in the eye or around the eye.

  • Swollen or bulging eye: An eye that is significantly swollen or bulging.

  • Unequal pupils: Noticeably different pupil sizes.

  • New or increased floaters or flashes: Seeing spots or flashes in your vision that are new or have significantly increased.

  • Eye infections: Signs of an infection, such as redness, discharge, and pain.

  • Light sensitivity (photophobia): Increased sensitivity to light.
